Hi! My name is Brittney and my pronouns are she/her.

I have my Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Manitoba. I have worked in the area of family violence and trauma since 2013 at NorWest Co-op Community Health, providing individual counselling and group facilitation. I was an associate with Positive Perspectives for a year and I transitioned to my own private practice in June, 2024.

My favourite part of being a therapist is getting to work with people on their counselling goals and noticing with them the progress and associations they are making. Building a trusting relationship is a key part of my job that I enjoy. It is a privilege of mine to provide a safe space for others to feel heard, seen, and understood.

In my work, I like connecting with teens (16+) and adults of all backgrounds who are curious about discussing life transitions, change, relationships, and self awareness. I often enjoy working with those who are beginners in therapy and a goal of mine is to help welcome folks into exploring their minds.

As a Registered Social Worker, I value working from an anti-oppressive, culturally safe, and person-centered lens. I place a lot of focus on creating and noticing the feeling of safety in the body. Oftentimes I draw on Internal Family Systems theory to help guide folks towards healing and I tend to incorporate the mind-body connection.

I lean into trauma informed counselling techniques - utilizing CBTm, DBT, Body Oriented Trauma, and Poly Vagal theories to inform how our narrative impacts our experiences. I also like to take the approach of noticing how the systems and environment around us have impacts.

I believe that the quality of our relationships impacts the quality of our lives. We inherit things from our family of origin and have various things happen to us, but we can change our responses and focus on what we can control in our present day. We can recognize the experiences we are having and actively choose something different than what we know from past conditioning or patterns.

If you are feeling stuck in some area of your life and want to explore that, I would be happy to hear from you.

I offer in-person, phone, or video sessions during the daytime, evenings and weekends.

Please feel free to email me directly if you’d like to schedule a free consultation. brittney.rsw@gmail.com
